Sport & Community Development
At The Swans Community Partnership, we believe that sport and physical activity can transform lives, strengthen communities, and create opportunities for people of all ages and backgrounds.
Our Sport & Community Development programmes are designed to remove barriers to participation, improve health and wellbeing, reduce social isolation, and help people feel connected to their communities. We work alongside residents, partners, schools, community groups, and local organisations to ensure everyone has the opportunity to be active, belong, and thrive.
Building Stronger Communities
We use sport, physical activity, and community engagement to bring people together, creating safe, welcoming environments where individuals and families can develop confidence, build relationships, and access new opportunities. Our programmes support community cohesion and help residents become active contributors within their neighbourhoods.
Supporting Children, Young People & Families
We create opportunities for children, young people, and families to be active together through community activities, holiday provision, youth engagement programmes, and family-focused events. By providing enjoyable and inclusive experiences, we help build positive habits, improve wellbeing, and encourage lifelong participation in physical activity.
Tackling Inequalities & Removing Barriers
We recognise that many people face barriers to being active, including cost, confidence, health challenges, caring responsibilities, cultural expectations, accessibility needs, and lack of local opportunities. Our work focuses on addressing these barriers through affordable, local, welcoming, and community-led activities that meet the needs of diverse communities.
Inclusion for All
We are committed to ensuring everyone has access to sport and physical activity regardless of age, ability, ethnicity, faith, gender, background, or circumstance. Our programmes include targeted opportunities for older adults, women and girls, people with disabilities, refugees and asylum seekers, culturally diverse communities, and those experiencing social or economic disadvantage.
Community-Led, Resident-Focused
We work with communities, not just in communities. By listening to local people and involving them in shaping activities and services, we ensure our programmes reflect the aspirations, strengths, and needs of the people they are designed to serve.
Together, we are creating healthier, more connected, and more active communities across Milton Keynes.
